Nancy Star (email)

Nancy Kathleen Keeney was born in Oklahoma City, Ok. and moved here with her  family when she was 4 years old.  She comes from a family of talent; 7 brothers and sisters with various musical abilities, a Mother that sang in a jazz band and a Father that played harmonica and a four string guitar.  Her best graduation gift was the 12 string guitar she received from her parents that allowed her to accompany her vocals, to write originals and play at graduations, weddings, etc.  She married at the age of 18 and started her family at the age of 21.  Proud parent of three sons, Neil, Greg, and Chris, she was encouraged in 1983 by a good friend, Doug Suite, to join her first full band.  So 6 months pregnant with her last son, Chris, she began her journey with her first band, NORTH STAR.  They toured in Texas & Oklahoma and her band members started introducing her as NANCY STAR, which everyone knows her as today.  Her song writing paid off with a video of original songs on cable TV in 1986 and she has shared the stage with such great artist as:  Chuck Rainey (Steely Dan), Buddy Whittington (John Mayall) and great locals legends, Rusty Burns (Point Blank), Robert Ealey, Johnny Nitzinger, Holland K. Smith, Johnnie Red, Rodney Bollinger (Me & My Monkey), Mike Brown (Party Crashers) and many, many more.  Her recent decision to return to her 'root of music' , JAZZ, will be as exciting as the Dallas Observer decribes her as "A Breath of Fresh Air" with a gifted voice and great talent.
